Pavlyuchenko not envious of Arshavin`s Premier League success
Tottenham Hotspur forward Roman Pavlyuchenko has said he is not jealous of the immediate impact that his compatriot Andrei Arshavin has had on the English Premier League.
"I`m not jealous at all," he told Sport Express. "There is enough attention for everyone, even if the entire Russian side moves over here...I`m really pleased for Andrei. To achieve such recognition in your first months is really something."
Arshavin was named Premier League player of the month for April after a number of top level performances including a stunning four goals in Arsenal`s 4-4 draw at Anfield. In contrast, there has been speculation that Pavlyuchenko, despite scoring 14 goals in his first season, is set to leave White Hart Lane in the summer.
The 27-year-old former Spartak Moscow quashed the rumors however, telling the paper that, "I am a Tottenham player and want to remain one."
"My agent spoke to Tottenham trainer Harry Redknapp last week," the player revealed. "He came over on his own initiative after I had spent a few games on the bench...As far as I know, their talk was very comprehensive and afterwards [Oleg] Artemov told me that Redknapp was not considering letting me leave."
Pavlyuchenko also told Sport Express of a recent incident involving his new Italian designer suit and Tottenham defender Jonathan Woodgate.
"I recently bought an original Dolce & Gabbana suit. It`s white with images of tigers on it. It`s really bright and out of the ordinary. I wore it to training, and there was a real fuss. Then, after I was having a massage after exercises Jonathan Woodgate put on my trousers and starting jumping around the dressing room, asking `do I look like a clown?`"
"To which I replied, `No you look like someone who has never worn Dolce & Gabbana in their life. Now go and put your torn jeans on.`"
"It was very entertaining," concluded Pavlyuchenko.
